Pastor Ken Frese

Pastor Ken Frese is our Vacancy Pastor as Palisades Lutheran Church begins a search for a permanent pastor.     

 

Ken has had a long and distinguished career in ministry.  He served as pastor at the First Lutheran Vallejo church for four years, then served as the Lutheran chaplain at UCLA for 11 years and next served for twelve years as the pastor at First Lutheran Venice.

After he retired from First Lutheran Venice, Ken accepted a chaplain position at a Lutheran skilled nursing facility near Cleveland, Ohio, where he served for four years. For the past several years, Ken has focused his service in Southern California where he has counseled many congregations in transition, led retreats and preached at various Southern California churches.

He did graduate work in clinical and pastoral psychology after graduating with a Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. 

Ken has been married for 30 years to Christine Holten, who is the Director of the Undergraduate Writing Center at UCLA.

 

Ken is a long-time Californian.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved with his family at the age of four to Whittier, California, where he grew up. Ken attended a Concordia boarding school in Oakland during his high school years, followed by attendance at two Concordia colleges before he completed his M.Div. in St. Louis.
