Youth Confirmation Class
Wednesday, 6:30 P.M.
What Is Confirmation?
Confirmation marks the completion of the congregation's program of Confirmation ministry and is the rite by which a person affirms his/her baptism, publicly confesses his/her faith, and is received into
congregational membership. The rite of Confirmation is a time of celebration for the congregation as it affirms and encourages a person in the continuation of their faith journey.
What does Confirmation look like at PCL?
Confirmation instruction at PCL is a two-year ministry for 7th, and 8th graders that teams with parents to equip students to make a confession of faith by developing a deep
understanding of Jesus as Savior and their life-long relationship with Him, while engaging students in a deeper understanding of core theological concepts (The Apostles’ Creed, The Ten Commandments, Baptism, Confession & Absolution, The Lord’s Supper and Prayer). Students are prepared to make a confession of faith through participation in regular worship, yearly retreats and special events, acts of service, fellowship and regular faith conversation.
Women's Bible Study
Wednesday, 11:00 A.M.
The Lutheran Church confesses that the Lord's Supper is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, under the bread and wine, given to all Christians to eat and to drink. We believe Holy Communion offers the forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, and assurance of salvation, for Jesus declares: "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.'" (cf. Matt. 26:26-28; see also Mark 14:22 - 25, Luke 22:14-20; I Cor. 11:17-29).
Preaching and Christian Education
"The source of ministry is God himself, and its standard is God's own Word, (I Timothy 6:3; John 17:20; Ephesians 2:20.) which the pastor cannot approach in 'academic freedom' as the modern world understands it. The pastor finds God's will and teachings in the Scriptures alone. "In applying themselves to this 'most difficult and highest art,' the minister of the Gospel may find themselves in tension and indecision." (Pastoral Theology, CPH, 1990.)
Our pastor(s) "...learn and mature and even find strength and joy in this glorious art." (Pastoral Theology, CPH, 1990.)
